Armaan Malik, at 10 years old, sang "Bum Bum Bole" for the 2007 movie "Taare Zameen Par." Since then, he has ventured into playback singing, independent songwriting, collaborations with various artists, and most recently, performances with Ed Sheeran and Marshmello during their visits to India. During a recent trip to Bengaluru, Armaan expressed his belief in manifesting dreams into reality. He reflected on his journey as a singer, transitioning from a child singer to a teenage pop artist and eventually delving into Bollywood. Looking ahead, he shared his musical aspirations of winning a Grammy, performing at Madison Square Garden, and collaborating with artists like Charlie Puth, Zedd, and Justin Bieber, emphasizing the importance of being prepared for anything as an artist.
Regarding the current music landscape, Armaan acknowledged the flourishing period of music between 2014 and 2018, marked by the emergence of talents like Arijit Singh and himself. He noted a shift towards creating viral hits over quality songs, expressing concern about the lack of authenticity and the potential for misuse of technology to replicate artists' voices without their consent. Armaan highlighted the importance of preserving the integrity of music and ensuring legal protections for artists in the face of advancing technology and changing industry dynamics.I find it both amusing and concerning that anybody can use my voice and music style to create a song, highlighting the need for regulations. While AI can be advantageous, it is essential to have laws safeguarding artist rights and ensuring that technology does not compromise the genuineness of music. It is my belief that real instruments and musicians should always be integral to the music creation process. Collaboration is a fantastic way to merge diverse worlds, fan bases, and artistic styles. Engaging with another artist is thrilling, but what truly matters is having a genuine admiration for their work. I have a select few artists whom I admire and would be thrilled to work with, as collaborations should be about merging different perspectives and energies. I have been fortunate to collaborate with artists whom I hold in high regard, such as AR Rahman, a dream come true for me. Manifestation has shown me that dreams can indeed come true. Nowadays, thanks to the power of the internet, talented individuals from even remote areas have the opportunity to showcase their abilities and gain recognition, ushering in a flourishing era of independent music. As a playback singer, it is crucial to be adaptable, like a chameleon, tailoring your vocal style to suit the on-screen persona of the actor. It's remarkable how one's voice can adjust to match the charisma and personality of different actors. Singing alongside Ed was a dream fulfilled for me.Armaan expressed that performing with Ed Sheeran was a humbling experience. Despite Ed's immense popularity worldwide, he displayed remarkable humility and down-to-earth nature. It is uncommon to encounter someone of his caliber who maintains such groundedness. They engaged in enriching discussions about music, including Indian music, and Ed expressed interest in collaborating with more Indian artists. Their bond grew stronger, evolving into a close friendship where Armaan now regards Ed as his brother. Recently, Armaan Malik delivered a sold-out performance at Bharatiya City in Bangalore.
